My Top 10 Car Camping Recipes

Need some recipe inspiration for your next camping trip? Here’s my top 10 favourite car camping recipes for ya! Everything from breakfast to dessert!

I know how tough it can be at times to plan what to eat on your next camping trip, so today I’m sharing my top 10 favourite camping recipes for a car camping trip!

I love quick and easy meals, with as little mess and clean up afterwards as possible, but still want to enjoy a delicious and flavour packed meal. So here is my stab at the best of both worlds, quick and easy cooking without sacrificing flavour and enjoyment!

Below you’ll find a mixture of breakfast and lunch/dinner ideas, with a couple desserts and snacks thrown in too!

Spicy Shrimp Tacos

We probably ate this once a week during the summer because it’s so fresh and delicious!

Note: be mindful how you will store the shrimp before cooking (in a cooler or fridge). I chat more about cold food storage while camping in the blog post!

Loaded Dutch Oven Nachos

One of our go-to’s when camping with a group! Loaded with black beans, corn, red peppers, spicy jalapeños and avocado, this is sure to be a crowd pleaser! Find the recipe, here.

Peach and Walnut Baked Brie

If you want an appetizer that will seriously blow away your camping friends, this is the recipe! An ooey gooey cheese dip that is surprisingly easy to make! Different flavour suggestions included too. Check it out, here.

Super Easy Cinnamon Rolls

Another go-to for us when camping in a group, and a sure crowd-pleaser! I’ve used a cast iron Dutch oven, cast iron pan with a lid or an Omnia Oven on the stove top to bake these.

You can of course make your own cinnamon rolls from scratch (try out this mocha cinnamon roll recipe here!) or opt for the super easy version and use a pre-made ready-to-bake cinnamon roll dough, like Pillsbury!

Croissant Pizza Rolls

One of my newest recipes and I’m already a big fan because these are SO easy! All your favourite pizza flavours wrapped up in a flaky croissant roll.

I used my Omnia Oven to bake these, but you could also bake in a cast iron pot/pan with a lid! Check it out, here!

Summer Berry Moscow Mule

If you like enjoying a cocktail now and then around the campfire, but do not consider yourself anywhere close to being a bar tender, then this is the drink for you! It’s super easy and refreshing, so really anyone can make it! Use fresh or frozen berries (or whatever frozen fruit you like) for this refreshing, summery drink!

Easiest Camp Burritos

Technically these are categorized as a “backpacking meal” but really they are a great option for an easy dinner while car camping or travelling. Use a store-bought dehydrated meal and a few extra ingredients to pull together these delicious burritos in no time! Perfect if you’re short on time but want something satisfying!

Blueberry and Coconut Pancakes

Pancakes are 100% our favourite breakfast on the road and we probably had them 1-2 times/week without fail this summer. If you want to change up your classic pancake breakfast, add some dried blueberries and coconut flakes for a sweet twist! Also considered a “backpacking meal” because there is no need for eggs or oil!

Maple Walnut Apple Crisp

Well if this doesn’t scream Fall comfort, I dunno what does. This sweet, nutty dessert is great for camping in groups and can either be enjoyed on it’s own or with a little side of ice cream or whipped cream! Don’t have a cast iron dutch oven or Omnia Oven to bake in? No problem, try the backpacking version that needs just a handful of ingredients and a frying pan!

Loaded Mashed Potatoes

A great option for a side dish OR a full meal. Get creative with your toppings or stick to the classic cheese, bacon and onion. Also backpacking friendly!

I hope this post is helpful for you and gives you some ideas on what to eat on your next camping trip! Check out the Recipe Index for lots more recipes for car camping AND backpacking!
