Crispy Folded Tortilla - Campfire Style
A combo of smoky BBQ chicken, gooey cheese, and crunchy veg, all grilled to perfection over the campfire. A Tik Tok trend I’m happy to get on board with!
I don’t usually jump on trends so easily (okay, minus the sourdough trend.. that one I fully supported) BUT this folded tortilla trend is just too fun and delicious not to join in on! It’s basically a quesadilla with a fun twist (FOLDS!).
Super quick and easy, with TONS of flavour options, this one is a great recipe to have in your pocket when heading out for a relaxed camping weekend.
Step 1:
Make your fire + assemble your ingredients. I chose:
chicken breast (smothered in BBQ sauce)
avocado
red pepper
red onion
cheese
Other suggestions:
ground beef (cooked, obvs)
lettuce
spinach
tomato
black beans
corn
more cheese
Step 2:
Cut your tortilla from the centre down to the edge (only on one side).
Step 3:
In each of the four quadrants, add your desired toppings.
Step 4:
Fold your tortilla by folding each quadrant onto the next, following it around in a circle (watch video below for example!).
Step 5:
Grill each side for 2-5 minutes until golden brown. You can grill straight on the fire grate on in a cast iron pan.
Step 6:
Enjoy warm!

Crispy Folded Tortilla
Ingredients
- 2 large tortilla wraps
- 1 chicken breast
- 2-4 Tbsp BBQ sauce
- 1/8 cup red onion, diced
- 1/8 cup red pepper, diced
- 3-6 slices cheese (mozzarella or cheddar or whatever you like)
- 1/2 avocado, pitted and sliced
Instructions
- Make your campfire. Place your campfire grate over the fire and allow to heat up.
- Grill chicken breast on the grate or in a cast iron pan over the fire until cooked through, about 5-8 minutes each side.
- Slice chicken breast and mix with BBQ sauce in small bowl. Dice up red onion and red pepper. Slice cheese and avocado.
- Lay tortilla wrap flat on a cutting board or plate and cut a straight line from the centre down to the edge of the wrap. You can imagine there are four quadrants or corners of the wrap.
- Assemble wrap by placing toppings in each quadrant of the wrap. First I did cheese slices, then avocado and red onion, then red pepper, and finally BBQ chicken.
- Fold up the wrap by folding each quadrant onto the next, in a circular direction.
- Grill tortilla on the campfire grate or cast iron pan until golden brown, approximately 2-3 minutes each side.
- Enjoy warm!
